I gave up my spider for a black moa, and I was really upset for a while. I love my moa now and there is no way I would give him up. I would love to be able to switch pets, give them a rest, but know I can take them out hunting whenever I want.

So when are we going to be able to tame more then one pet?

We already have a system to give festival hats to an NPC to hold them, so why not have a similar/identical system for pets?

We just need to tweak the pet trainer NPCs to hold our pets (instead of giving them away to the circus or what ever they do with them). Then we can have an option to choose between which one we use when we equip charm animal.

Its so simple I cant see why it isnt in play!

I cant see any balance issues because you can only use one pet at a time, and you need to speak to the NPC (and possible pay a small fee) to swap between them.

The only restrictions being a limit on how many we can store at one time, and only being able to store one of each pet.

And allow us to have individual names for them all! It can take a few days to evolve a pet, so its not really nice to have to start again each time.

I cant see it being that hard to add! Maybe also have a tiny icon in on screen to display with pet you have equipped. Obviously only if you have ranger and charm-animal equipped.

For instance a pheonix icon if its the pheonix, or a wolf icon if its the wolf!
The pet tamers eat them btw, so your cute little Phoenix ended up as someone's chicken casserole.

This should have been done in the first place.

My ranger has had her Melandru's Stalker for two years now and I am loathe to give it up. Sentimental value I suppose, but there are other pets I would like to get just for a change, you know.

I like the idea.

But it is too late. You think ANet will bother to implement this, now that most statements you hear start with "The devs are busily working on GW2, ...".

Not sure if anyone said this yet [no time to search posts], and it's not relevant to the 'more than one' part of this thread, but instead of 'being sent to the circus', I believe the pets are taken to Cho's Estate to be turned into Shiro's minions.

Actually I played a lot of my GW before Factions was released, when PvP wasn't terrible. And no, I actually don't play gimmick/meta, sorry to burst your bubble. I posted something on topic and simply added that remark because SotiCoto was /pvepeenstroking which was amusing.

Oh yeah, stop flaming me, I can't bear it with my low self-esteem!

Its been an issue since the start tbh and its never been touched on by Anet. I personally couldnt care less about balancing skills because i dont pvp and im happy with them.

Always have been and always will be.
Well, lol, I'm pretty sure ANet value skill balance more than the desire to tame several pets at once. Because, you know, if ANet start placing the insignificant aspects of PvE (like this) ahead of PvP as a whole more and more people will quit.

Why not just give us a "signet of capture pet", with the same stats as Charm Animal? Which would then change into a "Tamed Black Widow", "Tamed Black Moa", "Tamed Melandru's Stalker"? Then you can have all these pets, not need to store them, and flip between them easily?

It would be interesting to know what percentage of players do pvp, pve or both.

Its probably true that pvp has far more challenging combat since Ai will always lag some way behind the human element.
Team and character build variations must be fascinating, its probably not for me as I really don't have the time to do it well.
Far to many teams I am sure practise together a lot and are in constant voice communication.

Quite why some pvp players seem to be so dismissive of pve I don't know but there seems to be a little hostility at times.

Should pve players strike back at the pvp comments with Yes ok but while you were beating up another team in the arena for the 20th time I was out saving the world from the armies of the dark lords.

Maybe gw2 should seperate the groups entirely before we come to blows

I dont have GWEN yet but does the HoM "record" or "unlock" whatever pet you put in the monument? I know it records the Black Moa, Phoenix and Spider but does it record specifically the other pets or do they all just get recorded as generic?

When GWEN came out I always thought that the HoM would enable people to have a stable of pets with the unlocks. Imagine my disappointment.

no sadly it only displays Animal Companion statue...for all other pets..not sure why Imperial Phoenix or Black Moa get a statue ...they are relatively easy to obtain..

Oh, so I don't have the right to be proud of my little achievements now?
Balthazar forbid I should ever mention any such thing aloud for fear of provoking your uncontrollable sarcasm-habit.

Anyway. I've given my opinion on this matter:
It'd be nice (and I'd certainly like it if it was added).... but doesn't do much to change the game mechanics... and frankly isn't actually needed. Our sentimental attachments to pets mean squat in the long run. We have to choose between keeping our dear pets and replacing them with monument-worthy spiders, black moas and imperial phoenixes.... We cannot have both.
A-Net aren't going to change this.
End of story.

My Ranger recently ditched her Melandru's Stalker (QQ) for a Polar Bear, and honeslty? I'd also love a crab of some sort and an adorable Crocodile. The ability to have my cake and eat it too would be most welcome.

i dont relaly play ranger...
doesnt really matter though, i think we should be allowed to store about 5 per character at a NPC. I don't think anyone minds renaming their pet every time they get it so i propose a change to the NPC where he will store lvl 20 pets.
by making it lvl 20 it helps the whole "i would have to evolve it again" problem. The NPC could create a new lvl 20 evolved pet. all you have to do is name it.
Which pet would you like?
Dire Moa Bird
Hearty Mountain Eagle...
etc

thats not acutlaly a bad idea. ofcourse it would change the way the whole tame companion thing works but i can see it workign well.
Similar to the elite thing, you could have like one pet out at a time
they could liimit it to one capture pet signet in a skill bar at once.

This will allow us to change hero and player pets easily

Can anyone think of a reason not to do this?

Is there some flaw in all of our logic that Anet see's and we do not?

How can something that has been requested for so long be so totaly ignored?

Though I doubt anet will ever get around to it. My ranger would love to use all these pets, but frankly my pre-sear strider is irreplaceable. Still, you could make a tilte out of it, all lvl20 pets for tyria, cantha and elona and you get legendary poke-sorry, beastmaster once you have all 3. Who knows, anet seems to be all about the titles, and there's even a little grind raising the pets so maybe it might work with GW's current direction.
